Most people, especially ladies, love the idea of having soft hair. The kind people are just dying to touch and run their hands through. But what is the best way to achieve this?

First of all, you want to be careful with the hair products you use. Hair gel will leave the hair dry, crunchy and damaged looking. If you feel you must use it, mix it in with nourishing hair products to minimize damage. A lot of styling products also include alcohol, this will have much the same effect as hair gel, so check if the products you use contain alcohol, if they do, consider switching!

Hair coloring and highlighting will likewise kill all moisture from your hair, so do your best to do it as infrequently as possible. If you can afford it, get it done by a professional.

But what products should you use then? There are a few. A great tip, if you feel your hair is a bit too dry, is to apply just a tad of hand lotion to the ends. Yes, moisturizing is, indeed, important. Another great product is shine serum, to get your hair soft and touchable, apply it while the hair is still wet.

Using a hair mask is also great idea, but instead of just using it for half an hour, try to find a day where you can apply it as a styling product and wear it all day. It will maximize the effect.

In general, and this will seem obvious, avoid products and treatments that will dry out your hair. Substitute as much as possible to treatments and products that will moisturize instead. Always treat your hair as gently as possible. Don’t brush your hair too roughly. If your ends start to look damaged, have them trimmed. Moisturizing and being gentle is the short cut to full, touchable and soft hair!
